How to Get a QR Code (or Spotify Code) for Any Song
Sharing music has never been easier. Whether you want to print a custom sticker for your laptop, drop a track into a presentation, or text a friend a cool visual card, turning a Spotify song into a scannable graphic is a fantastic way to bridge the gap between physical and digital worlds.
Depending on what you are looking for, you can create either Spotify’s native soundwave-style codes or traditional square QR codes that open a track instantly.
Method 1: The Native Way (Spotify Codes)
Spotify features its own built-in scannable tags that resemble soundwaves. They look sleek, custom-designed, and can be scanned directly inside the Spotify app.
On Mobile (iOS & Android):
- Open Spotify and navigate to the song you want to share.
- Tap the three dots (…) menu icon located in the top-right corner of the song or album screen.
- You will see album artwork with a unique soundwave bar graphic underneath—this is your Spotify Code.
- Tap Save to Photos (or take a screenshot) to save the image directly to your device gallery.
On Desktop:
- Click the three dots (…) next to the song track.
- Hover over Share and select Copy Spotify URI (or copy the song link).
- Go to the official website spotifycodes.com.
- Paste the URI or song link into the box, choose your preferred background and bar colors, and click Download to save your high-resolution image.
Method 2: The Universal Way (Traditional QR Code)
If you need a traditional black-and-white grid QR code—which can be scanned by standard smartphone camera apps without requiring someone to open Spotify first—you can generate one using any standard link.
- Open Spotify, click or tap the Share button on your target song, and select Copy Link.
- Head over to a trusted free QR code generator (such as QR Code Generator or Adobe’s free online tool).
- Paste the song’s web URL into the URL/Link field.
- Customize the look if desired (changing colors, adding frames, or embedding a small logo).
- Download the QR code as a PNG or SVG file for digital use or printing.
Tips for Best Results
- Test Before Printing: Always scan your newly generated code using a secondary device before sending it to a printer or putting it on merchandise.
- Keep Contrast High: If you customize the colors of your Spotify or QR code, ensure there is sharp contrast between the code elements and the background, otherwise phones may struggle to read it.
